Since 2014, Conestoga College has hosted a day-long event to inspire young women in Grade 9-12 to pursue education and careers in the skilled trades and technologies. Jill of All Trades (JOAT) has been a tremendous success, attracting more than 200 students, teachers, partners and government representatives each year.  

Conestoga’s annual event includes an array of hands-on workshops in the motive power, industrial and construction trades led by female mentors to help young women develop a better understanding of the potential of skilled trades’ careers.

Additional event highlights include facility tours and guest speakers. This event allows young women to participate in a comfortable setting and gain confidence, making it a memorable experience.

Expanding our reach

Conestoga is a leader in skilled trades training and school boards and districts across North America have contacted the college to inquire about delivering their own Jill of All Trades event. In 2023, Conestoga supported the delivery of Jill of All Trades events throughout Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. By 2026, Jill of All Trades plans to expand to 25 institutions across Canada to deliver more than 70 events.
